Dr. Joel Funk, MD – Tucson, AZ

I am a practicing academic Urologist at The University of Arizona College of Medicine. I have been in practice since 2007 and have clinical specialization in male and female voiding dysfunction, neuro-urology and female pelvic medicine and reconstructive surgery. I have extensive experience and expertise in holmium enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) as well.

My current research interests include delineating the genetic factors associated with benign prostatic hypertrophy in attempts to develop precision markers predicative of disease progression. Additionally, I have active collaboration with our department of medical imaging investigating MR fusion prostate biopsy, MRI imaging in pelvic organ prolapse, and MRI imaging/3D modeling in surgical simulation.

I also have extensive administrative and leadership roles within both the Department of Surgery and Banner University Medical Division. This includes my role as Vice-Chair of Operations where I am responsible for the clinical enterprise including provider on-boarding, integration of EHR utilization, financial sustainability and revenue cycle optimization.
